How I Work

I approach my work as a counselor from a family systems oriented, feminist, relational perspective. This means that I am attuned to how early family experiences, cultural values, oppression, and stigma shape a client’s understanding of themself and their world. Values of curiosity, collaboration, mutuality, and connection guide my work with my clients. Throughout the therapeutic process, I partner with my clients to identify their own unique strengths that can be used as resources to foster growth and change. In all of my work, particularly when addressing painful or traumatic events, I attend to clients’ emotional safety using body awareness and mindfulness practices. I believe that positive change and healing happen in the context of honest relationships and invite my clients to engage in open dialog about our work together. I actively share my insights and observations with clients while holding the understanding that they are the experts in their own lives. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania.
