If you are thinking about initiating counseling, I’d love to hear from you to answer any questions you may have and decide together if we'd be a good fit to work together. Give me a call!

Phone Consultation

The first step to getting started in counseling is to find 10-15 minutes to talk on the phone, ideally where you aren’t interrupted or distracted. If I am unable to talk when you call, please let me know some good times to try to reach you and I’ll be in touch within 48 business hours. You're also welcome to e-mail me to set up a time for a phone consultation.

During the initial phone consultation, I will explain how I work, answer any questions you may have, and learn about what you're hoping to address in counseling. I’ll ask you some questions about past and current mental health concerns and treatment in order to assess that I can provide you the care you deserve. Finally, we’ll discuss fees and scheduling and hopefully set an appointment for an in person intake appointment.

Intake Appointment

The goal of the intake appointment is to begin to get to know each other and think together about who you are, where you’ve been, and where you want to go. I have some basic paperwork that I will ask you to fill out at the intake appointment. Please come 15 minutes early to fill out these forms or download them from the forms page to fill out ahead of time.

During this session, we’ll discuss what brings you to counseling as well as areas of your life and experience such as family of origin, relationship history, health, spirituality, work, and education. Because I am gathering an overview of many different domains of your experience during this time, we’ll allow for a longer session the first time we meet; approximately 80-90 minutes.
